All students need to feel safe and valued in the classroom. And no family member should fear for their kids' safety when they drop them off at school. Now is the time to act to make sure our students are always protected in our schools. I support placing School Resource Officers (SROs) in all of our high schools, with guarantees they will not discipline students. ACPS has made strides in hiring more mental health counselors and psychologists and that needs to continue. I support providing free gun locks to ACPS families and collaborating with state and local leaders on common sense gun safety measures. Every student at ACPS needs to be treated with dignity and respect.
